Smarts IP discovery operation fails with the comment "Does not pass filter" message in the Discovery Progress window
Trying to discover a device in Smarts IP after the device has been successfully added to the pendling list using dmctl utility

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The required "filters" were not matched in the dmctl command used to add the device to the pending list, as in the following failed example: 

dmctl -s <AM Name> invoke ICF_TopologyManager::ICF-TopologyManager addPending <devicename> <devicecommunity>

Resolution

Use the following command (all on one line) to match the required filters when adding the device to the pending list:

./dmctl -s <APM> invoke ICF_TopologyManager::ICF-TopologyManager addPending devname CommunityString Description TM_USERADDED TM_SNMP 162 ICMPSNMP
