Issue/Introduction

  • Device discovery fails when ICMP response exceeds 500 milliseconds in SMARTS
  • Discovery of device fails due to device slow response.
  • Discovery error no response from ping
  • Device responds to ping but has high latency value over 1000 milliseconds or 1 second

Environment

All Supported Smarts versions

Cause

defaultICMPAutoTimeout value is too low.

Resolution

Edit the discovery.conf file and increase the value from the default of defaultICMPAutoTimeout parameter to a higher value than 500 and load it to the running server as sm_tpmgr -s <Domain name> --load-conf=discovery.conf otherwise restart the service for changes to take effect.
