Device discovery fails when ICMP response exceeds 500 milliseconds in SMARTS
Discovery of device fails

Discovery error no response from ping

SNMP response time exceeds 500 milliseconds ms

Device responds to ping but has high latency value over 1000 milliseconds or 1 second

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

defaultICMPAutoTimeout value is too low.

Resolution

Edit the discovery.conf file and increase the value from the default of defaultICMPAutoTimeout parameter to a higher value than 500.
