Symptoms:




Ionix/Smarts Network Protocol Management (NPM) application cannot discover Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) session objects
BGP Sessions similar to the following are found from the SNMP walk:

.1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.5.213.1.79.80: 213.1.79.81
 .1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.5.213.1.79.126: 213.1.79.125
 .1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.5.213.1.79.138: 213.1.79.137
 .1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.5.213.1.79.154: 0.0.0.0
 .1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.5.213.1.79.158: 0.0.0.0

BGP session objects are not discovered for Cisco device from Ionix/Smarts NPM

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Ionix/Smarts NPM will not display a BGP session with a end point of 0.0.0.0. An IP address of 0.0.0.0 indicates a TCP/IP network cannot be reached. Having this address, a computer cannot be reached or communicate with any other devices over an IP network.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure the correct session (endpoints) are on the device. Once this has been done, apply the fix described in 54151 .
