Resolution

What conditions cause Smarts IP Availability Manager (Smarts AM) to generate LogicalConnectionDown notifications?

As specified in the Smarts IP Availability Manager documentation, the events used to diagnose LogicalConnectionDown include the following:
  • DownOrFlapping for all subinterfaces and peer subinterfaces (see Note statement)
  • MightBeDown for all logically connected systems

Additional Information

DownOrFlapping condition means that the state of all subinterfaces are considered in the generation of LogicalConnectionDown notifications, and not that all subinterfaces are required to be Down in order to generate this notification.
