Cannot find the Smarts SAM Global Console to download and install from Powerlink

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The Smarts SAM Global Console is part of the SAM Suite. There's no separate installation for the Global Console available on Powerlink.

Resolution

To install the only the SAM Global Console without the Web Console and Business Dashboard, do the following:

1. Run the Smarts SAM installation program
2. When prompted to choose the installation type, choose Global Console. 
3. When prompted to choose the type of Global Console installation, choose the Global Console option. Do not choose the Global Console, Web Console and Business Dashboard option.
4. Follow the prompts to complete the installation. 

5. Once the Global Console is installed, you will need to edit runcmd_env.sh to point your Global Console to the correct Smarts broker and license manager. Use the following command to edit this file using sm_edit:
   
   SAM/smarts/bin/sm_edit conf/runcmd_env.sh
