When are BGPService::Down notifications generated?

Receiving BGPSession::Down events but not a BGPService::Down notification

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

A BGPService must have at least three BGPProtocolEndpoints to create the necessary symptoms to create a BGPService::Down notification. If you only have two BGPProtocolEndpoints, you will receive two BGPSession::Down events, but will not receive a BGPService::Down notification.

You can generate BGPService::Down notifications by setting the PeerState attribute to IDLE for each of the BGPProtocolEndpoints.
