Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:




SAM 8.1 stops with TCP timeout error after running out of memory.
The following error messages were observed in the log file:

 t@1210304864 SM_SocketObserver-52146 #1
CI-E-EGENERIC-TCP Write timeout exceeded; in file  "/work/bluecurrent/FOUNDATION-7.2.0.X/148/smarts/clsapi/ci_flow.c" at line 220

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Memory growth, which happened during topology synchronization in SAM 8.1.0., is due to deletion of object relationship data during a toposync operation. This, in turn, is caused a memory leak in the system.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, please upgrade to SAM version 8.1.2 or later.
