When is the BGPProtocolEndpoint::RemoteSystemNotRunningBGP Event generated by Smarts NPM for BGP?

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Resolution

This event will only be generated by Smarts NPM if a peer device is NOT running BGP and the BGPSession is in an improper state such as BGPSession::Down or BGPSession::Disconnected. If a device is NOT running BGP, it will be removed from the topology during synchronization with the Smarts IP Availability Manager. Therefore, a device NOT running BGP should not be in the BGP domain.

Additional Information

When the BGP analysis model was first implemented, all devices in the Smarts IP AM domain were synchronized with BGP. However, to improve scalability and performance, the Smarts IP AM domain was enhanced and now prevents a device that is not running BGP from being synchronized into the BGP domain.
