Restart of Linux server running Smarts applications causes Smarts domains (Smarts IP/NPM/SAM/MPLS) to generate core dump
When restarting a Linux server that is running Smarts, the Smarts domains generate core dump, but domains run well after restart

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Smarts applications are using ports that are designated for the Linux operating system. When a Linux server restarts, the Linux OS uses ports >= 32768 for its own purposes. Therefore, these ports are reserved for use by the Linux OS and cannot be used for Smarts application domains.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the --port option for each Smarts domain to use a port that is less than 32768 and higher than 1024.
