Symptoms:

• Error: ADTM-W-Bad value in SNMP response for OID '.1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0' : 'noSuchObject' for IP Address '#.#.#.#, port 161'

Environment

Smarts - 10.1.x

Cause

This indicates that the SNMP agent #.#.#.# does not support the OID internet.mgmt.mib-II.system.sysDescr.

It is unlikely to support every system group in MIB-II, and it may not support any MIB-II functionality at all.

Resolution

This might be a legitimate implementation of SNMP, despite its oddity. But our finding will be partial for this device, as it depends on MIB-II (and the system group in particular).

Customer needs to contact device vendor for updating/implementing SNMP agent to support MIB-II.
