Symptoms:




Router managed by Alcatel-Lucent 5620 SAM EMS is not imported by Smarts Alcatel 5620 Service Aware Manager (Smarts ASAM) Adapter into ASAM domain
Router is not imported from ALU EMS to Smarts ASAM domain

Errors in log file for Smarts ASAM Adapter:

ASAM_MESSAGE-*-WARNING-.[SmWorker] createRouter() encountering unsupported shelf type:<Shelf Type>... not creating.

ASAM_MESSAGE-*-INFO-.[SmWorker] Router <RouterName> with shelf type <SAR Shelf Type> is not being created

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The above issue occurs because the router shelf type is not currently supported for import by the Smarts ASAM adapter. The Smarts ASAM emsShelfType.conf file (<BASEDIR>/ASAM/smarts/local/conf/alcatel-sam/emsShelfType.conf ) lists the Shelf Types that the Smarts ASAM adapter will import. If the shelf type for a router is not listed in this file, the Smarts ASAM adapter will not import that router into the ASAM domain.

Resolution

If a shelf type for a router in your Smarts ASAM environment that you want to manage is not listed Smarts ASAM emsShelfType.conf file, you will need to submit an enhancement request with EMC Smarts ASAM Engineering to get the specific shelf type added to the ASAM adapter.
