Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Smarts domains will not start with the LIC-EGENERIC-Network connect to THIS_HOST failed message seen in the Smarts server.log file similar to the following:

[05-janv.-2009 11:07:47+593ms Romance Standard Time] t@3372 dmboot
RSRV-E-ELICENSE-Unable to obtain license
LIC-ECHECKOUT-While attempting to check out license for AP_ICSRV
 LIC-EGENERIC-Network connect to THIS_HOST failed
.  The license file indicates THIS_HOST, and the server is not
  .  running on this host.
If it's running on a different host,
.  THIS_HOST should be changed to the correct host.
  . Feature:       AP_ICSRV
  . License path:  C:\Documents and
    Settings\svcabpiims\*.lic;C:\WINNT\system32 -
  .    \*.lic;D:/InCharge/IP/smarts/local/conf/smarts.lic
  . FLEXlm error:  -95,378.  System Error: 10061 ""
. For further information, refer to the FLEXlm End User Manual,
  . available at "
www.macrovision.com".

No Smarts domains are able to start.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The Smarts licensing server is not configured properly in the smarts.lic file.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the text in the smarts.lic file on the Smarts licensing server from THIS_HOST to the correct name of the licensing server. The Smarts domains can then check out licenses and start without problems.
