Flow closing due to missed keep alive

Issue/Introduction

Below error seen in the Smarts domain logs:

CI-EFLOWKEEPALIVERECV-Flow closing due to missed keep alives
CI-EFLOWKEEPALIVERECV-Flow closing due to inability to send keep alives

Environment

Smarts - 10.1.x

Smarts DM - 2.x

TSCA DM - 2.x

Cause

The Smarts products have a keep alive protocol.

Resolution

If either side of the TCP connection misses two consecutive keep alive messages, the connection is declared dead and closed.

The known reasons this problem occurs are:

1. One of the domains was shutdown normally.
2. One of the domains crashed or halted abnormally.
3. One of the domains could not get enough CPU cycles to process and send back the keep alives.
4. A part of the network connection (switch, router, firewall, tunnel) is stripping the urgent (URG) bit in the TCP/IP header.  

If the error message is not due to a domain being shutdown normally, contact Technical Support for assistance in determining the cause of the error message.
