How to determine which interfaces belong to which VLAN on Juniper devices in Smarts IP

Juniper devices showing ComposedOf interfaces description in Smarts IP contain VLAN number which do not match the VLAN object number

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

EMC Smarts IP Suite retrieves the information directly from the SNMP MIB.

Resolution

The VLAN number (VLAN-xxxx) and its ComposedOf relationship are retrieved from Juniper MIB value usdVlanSubIfVlanId (".1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.34.1.4.2.1.2"). The following example shows three interfaces belong to VLAN-1000:

.1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.34.1.4.2.1.2.587202562: 1000
.1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.34.1.4.2.1.2.587202778: 1000
.1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.34.1.4.2.1.2.587202780: 1000

Interface description values are retrieved from the ifDescr:

.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2.587202562: VLAN-SUB14/0/1.1000
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2.587202778: VLAN-SUB14/0/4.161000
.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2.587202780: VLAN-SUB14/0/5.161000
