How does Smarts determine the Card Status on a Juniper M40e device?

A CIP card on a Juniper M40e device is showing as "OTHER" status

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Values of "online" (6) and "standby" (10) will produce "OK" values for the card status of the device. The value of "present" (3) will produce a status of "OTHER". This functionality is by design as a "present" status does not reflect the operational state of the card sufficiently to signify an "OK" status.

Resolution

The card status on a Juniper M40e device is determined from the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.1.15.1.8. This OID indicates the operational status of the submodule. Valid values for this OID include the following:

unknown(1)
empty(2)
present(3)
ready(4)
announceOnline
online(6)
anounceOffline(7)
offline(8)
diagnostic(9)
standby(10)
