New attribute that was created using the Dynamic Model to extend the ICS_Notification class cannot be used in a Notification List

It is not possible to make a new attribute that was created using the Dynamic Model to extend the ICS_Notification class visible on the Global Console or use it in a Notification List

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

In most cases, the Global Console gets a list of attributes and their types from the server and adjusts the interface display accordingly. However, Smarts notifications are special instances. The Smarts Global Console interface is hard-coded to "know" all the fields of the Notification, and so will not display any added/extended fields.

Resolution

Smarts is functioning as designed. If you want to have the capability to add/extend Smarts notification fields included in an upcoming Smarts release, you can submit an enhancement request on Powerlink at the following location:
