Symptoms:



 

Receive the following message in Smarts Network Configuration Manager (Smarts NCM) when executing PostgreSQL database queries using the archive-utility.pl tool:

ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0x95

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Resolution

When using the archive-utility.pl tool found in the Smarts NCM tools directory, complete an archive operation before running the purge command.

Archive: Moves selected data from the application schema to the archive schema, resulting in a better application performance.

Purge: Removes selected data from the archive schema, resulting in small database backups.
