Smarts NCM: SysAdmin service is failing

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:




Smarts Network Configuration Manager (Smarts NCM) SysAdmin service is failing
Smarts NCM SysAdmin process does not automatically start

Smarts NCM SysAdmin process will not stay running

The following is found in the Smarts NCM sysmonm.log file:

Error exec'ing /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd: No such file or directory which indicated that the xinetd file was missing"

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

The above issue has been encountered when the xinetd file was deleted or moved.

Resolution

If you encounter this issue, reinstall the xinetd package and restart the SysAdmin service.
