Issue/Introduction

  • You login in vCenter with a user which was given administrator privileges in vCenter, or by using Global Permissions
  • In the vCenter summary tab the fields "Last Updated:" and "Last File-Based Backup:" are missing, only the fields "Version:" and "Build:" are visible
  • When you login in vSphere Client with the default administrator account [email protected] there are no missing fields

Resolution

These fields are only shown when the user logged in in vSphere Client has access to the information.
This access is not part of the vCenter administrator role or the global administrator role.

To access this information and see these fields, the account needs to be a member of the "SystemConfiguration.Administrators" group in vCenter Single Sign-On.
To add this membership please take the following steps:
  1. log into vSphere Client with an SSO administrator account (e.g. by using the default account [email protected])
  2. In the top bar, click on "Menu", the select "Administration"
  3. In the left column, under "Single Sign On", select "Users and Groups"
  4. In the right tab, click on "Groups"
  5. look for theĀ "SystemConfiguration.Administrators" group in the table and click on its name
  6. Using the "Add members" button, add the specific account you want to enable to see the fields
