All virtual machines on the ESX/ESXi host experience 100% CPU usage

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

You experience these symptoms on all virtual machines on the ESX/ESXi host:

• High or 100% CPU usage
• In the Processes tab in Task Manager, you see that frameworkservice.exe consumes all CPU cycles

VMware ESX 4.0.x
VMware ESXi 4.0.x Installable
VMware ESXi 4.1.x Installable
VMware vCenter Server 4.1.x
VMware ESXi 4.1.x Embedded
VMware ESXi 4.0.x Embedded
VMware ESX 4.1.x
VMware vCenter Server 4.0.x

Resolution

This issue occurs if you are using McAfee Agent 4.5.

To resolve this issue, you must install McAfee Agent 4.5 Patch 1 Hotfix 620018.
