Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When the backup fails due to Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) licensing error, you experience these symptoms:

  • The backup software uses Virtual Disk Development Kit 5.5
  • In the VixDiskLib.log file, on the backup software side, you see entries similar to:
5536 1728 YYYY-MM-DD TIME ### VixDiskLibVim: Error 3014 (listener error VmodlVimFaultInvalidLogin).
5536 1728 YYYY-MM-DD TIME ### VixDiskLibVim: Login failure. Callback error 3014 at 2482.
5536 1728 YYYY-MM-DD TIME ### VixDiskLibVim: Failed to load license manager.
5536 1728 YYYY-MM-DD TIME ### VixDiskLib: Error occurred when obtaining NFC ticket for: [DATASTORE_NAME] VM_FOLDER/VIRTUAL_DISK_NAME.vmdk. Error 3014 at 3707.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in Virtual Disk Development Kit version 5.5.3, available at VMware Downloads.
