This article provides information about the Intel esxcli plug-in which is an Ethernet Network Adapter Management tool for Intel Ethernet Network Family of products, providing the following key features:

• Enable/Disable VF trust mode
• Enable/Disable VF spoof-check
• Query current settings for VFs

This release of the Intel esxcli plug-in tool includes product support for the Intel Ethernet 700 Series Network Adapters. 
 
 
Notes:
Setting a VF is non-persistent - It is required to set a VF to the desired operation every time after rebooting a VM or host since ESXi kernel may assign a different VF to the VM after reboot.
 
If assistance is needed with the installation, or if problems occur using the tool, contact Intel Customer Support.

Installation Details

• Install the vib file                                   esxcli software vib install -v <full path>/vib
• Restart the ESXi host daemon                  /etc/init.d/hostd restart

 
"intnet" namespace in esxcli will be accessible to configure aforementioned features if the plug-in install is successful.

 

 
System Requirements
The Intel esxcli plug-in tool is supported on ESXi 6.5, and 6.7 operating system versions:  6.5 & 6.7
 
Note: On ESXi systems, the tool only works on Intel Ethernet 700 Series Network Adapters using the Intel ESXi i40en driver. The user will need to set their ESXi host acceptance level to PartnerSupported in order to install the tool.
