Issue/Introduction

While performing vMotion, the warning message arise as - "Too large clock skew was detected"

Environment

VMware vSphere ESXi 7.x
VMware vSphere ESXi 8.x

Cause

Either the source or the destination host doesn't have the NTP configured.

Resolution

1. Check for both the source and the destination hosts if NTP is configured or not or any difference between the NTP configurations.

2. If NTP isn't configured, follow the below KB to configure the same:

Configuring Network Time Protocol (NTP) on an ESXi host using the vSphere Client

3. If the issue still persists, please restart the ntpd service  by running the below command in ESXi where the NTP is configured.

# /etc/init.d/ntpd restart
