Issue/Introduction

  • After a vMotion, a reoccurring VM task appears in the UI:

A specified parameter was not correct: spec.pool

Cause

This occurs when there is a conflicting VM/Host affinity rule.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, remove the conflicting VM/Host affinity rule.

  1. Log into the vCenter UI
  2. Navigate to the cluster where the affected VM resides
  3. Click on the Configure tab
  4. Navigate to the VM/Host Rules section
  5. Identify the offending VM/Host affinity rule and delete it.

Note: After deleting the rule, the VM Task error message will stop.

  6. Recreate the VM/Host affinity rule.
