Exporting Event Results Return Incomplete Results in vRealize Log Insight 4.x

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Event Results exported from Interactive Analytics fails.
  • Event Results exported from Interactive Analytics has missing data.


Environment

VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.3.x
VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.0.x
VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.5.x
VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.x

Cause

Exporting Event Results is limited to 20,000 events. The results will be cut off after 20,000 events, have inconsistent or missing results, or fail to export if a timeout occurs.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vRealize Log insight 4.x

This issue will be resolved in an upcoming release of vRealize Log Insight.

A similar issue resulting in an empty exported file will be resolved in another upcoming release of vRealize Log Insight.

Workaround:
To work around this issue, try the export again, or on most browser versions:
  1. Log in to vRealize Log Insight.
  2. Click the Interactive Analytics tab.
  3. Open the developer console for your web browser.
Note: For more information on opening the developer console, see your web browser documentation.
  1. In the console window. enter the following:
javascript:fileRequestTime=new Date().getTime().toString();callback=null;
  1. Press the Enter key.
  2. Click Export Event Results.
