NetApp Virtual Storage Console (VSC) fails to connect to the Virtual Center Server

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• NetApp Virtual Storage Console (VSC) fails to connect to the Virtual Center Server and lists Empty set of vCenter Servers.
• Through vSphere Web Client, clicking on Virtual Storage Console does not list the vCenter Server FQDN in the List box, it shows empty list.
• Unable to configure the Virtual Storage Console.
• In the C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Web Client\Serviceability\logs\vSphere_client_virgo.log file, you see entries similar to:

• In the /var/log/rhhtpproxy.log file, you see entries similar to:

  Note:
  • You have Installed NetApp Virtual Storage Console and successfully registered to the vCenter Server.
  • The preceding log excerpts are only examples. Date, time, and environmental variables may vary depending on your environment.

Environment

VMware vCenter Server 5.5.x
VMware vCenter Server 6.0.x

Cause

This issue occurs when VMware vCloud Air Hybrid Cloud Manager Plugin is registered with vCenter Server (Name - com.vmware.vca).

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting vSphere 6.0 U2.

 

Currently, there is no resolution.

 

To work around this issue, unregister the vCloud Air Plugin com.vmware.vca if the vCloud Air Plugin is not in use.

To unregister the extension/plugin:

1. Open the URL http://vCenter_Server_name_or_IP/mob through browser.
   
   Note: Replace vCenter_Server_name_or_IP with actual vCenter Server name or IP address.
    
2. Click Content.
3. Click ExtensionManager.
4. Select and copy the name of the plug-in you want to remove from the list of values under Properties. (Value is com.vmware.vca for the vCloud Air Plugin).
5. Click UnregisterExtension. A new window appears.
6. Paste the key of the plug-in.
7. Click Invoke Method. This removes the plug-in and results in void.
8. Close the window.
   
   Note: Refresh the Managed Object Type:ManagedObjectReference:ExtensionManager window to verify the plug-in has been removed successfully.
