When trying to model or reconfigure device models, the following error shows:
Modeling is locked by another process. Waiting for other process to finish...
Release: Any
Component: SPCDIS - Spectrum Discovery
Spectrum's modeling process runs one at a time. When a modeling process runs, the others will need to wait for the previous process to finish. If you want to stop/abort the current modeling process, you can navigate to the VNM model, in the Component Detail View, in the AutodDscovery Control, click the Abort Discovery button. This will stop the current modeling process. Please note that another one may start as soon as the current one is stopped.
These are the typical ways that modeling processes run that can cause this error to show:
1. A manual discovery from the Discovery gui was launched.
2. A scheduled discovery (configured from the Discovery gui) has started.
3. IPServices discoveries were started.
To determine if a manual discovery/modeling, a scheduled discovery/modeling, or an IPServices discovery/modeling is running, you can navigate to the VNM model, in the Component Detail View, in the AutoDiscovery Control, open the Debug Options area and turn on the Debug AutoDiscovery. You will need to review the <SPECROOT>/SS/AdiscDebug_<timestamp> file on the SpectroSERVER machine.
4. A device reconfiguration has triggered.
To see if device reconfiguration is running, navigate to the VNM model, in the Component Detail View, under Dynamic Debugging, turn on the Interface Configuration and Modeling debug. Review the <SPECROOT>/SS/VNM.OUT file on the SpectroSERVER machine.
5. VHM discovery is running.
6. VLAN discovery is running.
To see if VHM and/or VLAN discoveries are running, navigate to the VNM model, in the Component Detail View, under Dynamic Debugging, click the Set next to the MOOT Threading Dump and select the Dump Now option. Review the <SPECROOT>/SS/.moot.trace file for information in regards to VHM and/or VLAN discoveries. Please provide this to CA Support if need be.
You cannot disable the VHM discovery. That runs automatically by Spectrum.
You can disable and/or check if VLAN discoveries are enabled. Navigate to the VNM model, in the Component Detail View, under SpectroSERVER Control and review the option for "VLAN Configuration".
