Issue/Introduction

Symptoms

1. While trying to upgrade from TKGI using the Management Console (MC), you see the following error within the MC logs:
"invalid Ops Manager VM MoID"

2. Checking the same MC log you see that MC is referencing a Management Console version different than what you expected to be running in your platform.

Example: Your Management Console was recently running as version 1.9.x, yet you see the following in your MC log:
'localhost pks-mgmt-server[1023]: time="2020-12-28T21:10:31Z" level=info msg="Running instance version is:v1.6.1-rev.1'

3. Your new MC 1.9.x Dashboard shows a different Ops Manager version (example: Ops Man 8.5.0) than the actual Ops Manager version that shows on the Ops Manager web UI (example: Ops Man 9.2.0).

Environment

Product Version: 1.8

Resolution

If your Ops Manager instance that EPMC was pointing to is current and valid (example from above: Ops Man 9.2.0), then it is possible that an incorrect Backup and Restore image of the Management Console VM was restored.

Action

Check the running Ops Manager Change Logs via the web UI to help verify how long Ops Manager has been running.

Possible Resolution

If you have the latest and valid MC restore image, you will need to attempt to restore it. Without the current and valid MC restore image, there is no known recovery option.
