New NSX-T 2.4 UI based on the Policy API not supported by PKS 1.4

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

NSX-T 2.4 has a new UI based on the Policy API. With NSX-T 2.4, the user has two options to interact with NSX Manager:

1. Simplified UI based on the Policy API (Declarative Interface)
2. Advanced UI/API (Imperative interface

However, if you are upgrading to PKS 1.4 and NSX-T v2.4.x or installing PKS 1.4 with NSX-T v2.4.x, you CANNOT use the Simplified UI and MUST use the Advanced UI.

Environment

Cause

When you upgrade to NSX-T 2.4, the T0 router(s) and all other management plane objects can be seen and configured only from the Advanced Networking and Security tab. These objects will not be migrated to the new Policy API.

NSX-T v2.4 implements a new user interface UI based on the NSX Policy API. PKS 1.4 does not support NSX-T v2.4 Policy API. More specifically, the NSX Container Plugin (NCP), which is embedded in the PKS software bundle, does not support the Policy API.

Resolution

If you are upgrading to PKS v1.4 and NSX-T 2.4.x, or installing PKS v1.4 with NSX-T v2.4.x, you CANNOT use the Simplified UI and MUST use the Advanced Networking and Security UI.
