Upgrade path for TKr 1.25 with TAP 1.6.x to TKr 1.26 with TAP 1.7.1 or higher version

Issue/Introduction

TAP 1.6.x supports only TKr 1.25 on vSphere with Tanzu and TAP 1.7.x supports TKr 1.26 onwards. Since there is no overlapping TKr between TAP 1.6.x and 1.7.x, a customer running TAP 1.6.x on TKr 1.25 will not be able to upgrade to TKr 1.26 before upgrade TAP to 1.7.x.

Resolution

TAP 1.7.x will support TKr 1.25 as an exception to support the upgrade path for TAP 1.6.x on TKr 1.25 on TAP 1.7.x. TAP 1.7.x support K8s versions are 1.28-1.26. This is an exception only to enable an TAP upgrade path for TKr 1.25.

Workaround:

1. TAP 1.6.x running on TKr 1.25 needs to be upgraded to TAP 1.7.1 following the TAP 1.7.x upgrade documentation.
2. Upgrade TKr 1.25 to 1.26 immediately after upgrading to TAP 1.7.1 as TAP 1.7.x does not really support TKr 1.25. Refer to TKr upgrade documentation for Vsphere 8.
