Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

You receive the following error statement in PASW when BOSH is compiling the Windows Stemcell for creating the Windows Diego Cell:

Moving temporary directory \var\vcap\data\compile/bosh-dns-windows-bosh-agent-unpack to final destination \var\vcap\data\compile/bosh-dns-windows: rename \var\vcap\data\compile/bosh-dns-windows-bosh-agent-unpack \var\vcap\data\compile/bosh-dns-windows: Access is denied.

Environment

Cause

When creating the vSphere Windows Stemcell, you may have installed an antivirus software. During the VM compilation, BOSH manipulates specific folders in the Windows Stemcell. Any third party antivirus software you have installed can scan and block access to certain folders.

Resolution

The following directories should be excluded from the antivirus software on-demand scanning:

  • C:\bosh

  • C:\var\vcap

Note: You can also install an antivirus software as a BOSH add-on, supplied by the antivirus provider.
Here is an example of an antivirus add-on.
