VMware Tanzu Application Service for VMs

Issue/Introduction

When new VMs are added to any tile, it is possible that the resource configuration for these new VMs may lead to an external IP address being assigned to them in GCP. When examining the GCP console, you sill see an external IP address configured.

In most cases, this is not desirable. In the event that a BOSH controlled VM is discovered in your GCP environment that has an external IP address where it should not, please follow the instructions below.

Resolution

Go to TAS tile -> Resource Config -> settings expand the settings and review if the checkbox for the "INTERNET CONNECTED" setting is checked.

If it is checked, uncheck it, save the change and Apply Changes on the TAS and BOSH tiles. Review the VMs after the Apply Changes completes, the VM should no longer have an external IP address assigned.

Please see the following documentation for additional information on how this resource config settings is used.
