gprestore from Data Domain backup not progressing or slowly progressing

Issue/Introduction

The gprestore utility is taking a long time restoring from a Data Domain backup.

Environment

Product Version: 6.19

Resolution

A couple possibilities:

• Check if the gpbackup to Data Domain was taken with or without compression (Check for existence of --no-compression flag when taking the backup). Performance of restore with compression in Data Domain is much slower. The recommendation is to use "--no-compression" flag for backups to Data Domain.
• Regression within gp-backup-ddboost-plugin was introduced in v1.6.0 (gpbackup 1.21) where COPY operations were hanging in race condition (179545868). It was fixed in version 1.7.0 (bundled in gpbackup 1.24).
