PXF error when exporting XML column to parquet — Type 142 is not supported

Issue/Introduction

The error below appears when trying to import a table with XML column into an external parquet table (for example, using profile hdfs:parquet):

ERROR: PXF server error : Type 142 is not supported (seg28 10.10.10.10:16728 pid=24568) 
HINT: Check the PXF logs located in the '/var/pxf_base/logs' directory on host 'db25.example.com' or 'set client_min_messages=LOG' for additional details. 

Type 142 is the oid for the "xml" type in the pg_type catalog table.

Environment

Product Version: 6.23

Resolution

As of June 2023, type 142 "XML" is not supported by PXF and is not schedule for support in the near future.
