[Errno 39] Directory not empty: $GPHOME/.tmp when installing packages using gppkg in VMware Tanzu Greenplum

Issue/Introduction

In VMware Tanzu Greenplum, you receive the message:

[Errno 39] Directory not empty: $GPHOME/.tmp

Normally this issue is due to the fact that $GPHOME/.tmp is not empty.

Environment

Product Version: 6.7

Resolution

Removing the directory "$GPHOME/.tmp" from master and all the segments fixes this issue.
