pgAdmin Tool Takes Long Time to Open

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

pgAdmin tool takes a long time to open. After opening the application, it's in loading status. And, it takes more than 30 minutes to complete the loading.

 

Environment

Cause

When pgAdmin tool starts, it will run a few big queries against catalog tables to acquire DB information. If catalog tables don't have the correct statistics saved in the DB, those big queries will take a long time to run. Analyzing the catalog tables will help generate the correct statistic for the catalog tables.

 

Resolution

Analyze all the catalog tables:

analyzedb -s pg_catalog "dbname"
