Pivotal GPText Error: "Version #.#.# is not supported by this upgrade" when trying to upgrade GPText using gptext-upgrade utility

Issue/Introduction

When upgrading GPText, it fails with the following message. In this example, GPText is upgraded from v2.3.1 to v3.1:

You have sourced the greenplum-text_path.sh script in the old GPText installation directory specified in the Upgrading GPText  release documentation:

$ /usr/local/greenplum-text-<new-version>/bin/gptext-upgrade

Adding the verbose option to the gptext-upgrade command shows additional information:

Cause

GPTransfer 3.1 only supports upgrading GPText from version 2.4.0 or 3.0.0. In other words, GPTransfer 3.1 does not support upgrading GPText from a version lower than 2.4.0 or 3.0.0.

Resolution

Upgrade to GPText 2.4.0 and then use GPTransfer 3.1 to upgrade to your desired version.
