Issue/Introduction

How to open a feature request for VMware GemFire.

Resolution

By feature request, we mean a change of functionality in the product. It can be new functionality, a change in behavior or an enhancement.

When referring to VMware GemFire we include both VMware GemFire [VMs] which was previously known as Pivotal Cloud Cache (PCC) and VMware GemFire which was previously known as GemFire.

The process of handling feature requests is not owned by support but by R&D. Because of this it is not necessary to open a support ticket for a feature request. A feature request can be opened by sending an email to the R&D team responsible for feature requests: [email protected]. R&D manages the feature request and communication with the customer.

Note: that R&D does not have any obligation to include new features into the products.

When sending a feature request please make sure to add all the necessary details describing the wanted feature. Include product and product version you are using at the moment, code examples if relevant and describe the usage scenarios. Most feature requests only describe solutions, that is, a specific product improvement. Make your feature request better by describing the problem you are facing, and only then proposing the feature request as one solution to that problem. You might find that R&D proposes a different solution you hadn't thought of.

In case you are unsure if the product works as designed and if you are dealing with an issue or an actual feature request then please open a support ticket using the normal process for that and support will then help guide you in determining if a feature request should be opened or not.
