Issue/Introduction

You may find that nslookup or dig from the Ops Manager VM on the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) is working but the error "The domain '*.SYSTEM-DOMAIN' failed to resolve, type: WildcardDomainVerifier" persists on the Ops Manager GUI.

The Ops Manager UI verifier does not use its own Domain Name Server (DNS) server, instead it uses the DNS server configured in BOSH Director Tile > Create Networks > DNS.

A majority of the time, the DNS servers are the same, but sometimes they are different.

Environment

Product Version: 2.9

Resolution

To resolve this issue, make sure you are connected to the appropriate DNS server.

Connectivity can be verified by specifying the DNS Server IP in the dig command:
dig @<DNS IP> *.<SYSTEM-DOMAIN> +short
