Operations Manager

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Check for the symptoms:
  • Ops Manager is upgraded to version 2.6x and shuts off or restarts automatically after coming online.
  • A console window to Ops Manager VM receives a message such as 'Error: Shutting Down! Must supply public key"'
  • A public key was not provided to OpsManager when deploying Open Virtualization Format (OVF).

Environment

Cause

In version 2.6x, Ops Manager requires that you provide a public key for SSH-ing to VM. This requirement is mentioned in the 2.6 breaking changes document.

Failing to provide this key will cause Ops Manager to automatically shutdown.

Resolution

When deploying OVF template for Ops Manager, specifying a "Public SSH key" is required. This is step 11 from this document.

If this public key was not specified when upgrading to 2.6x, then it will be necessary to re-deploy Ops Manager with OVF template, and this time specifying a public SSH key.
