Operations Manager

Issue/Introduction

During the initial installation of Pivotal Ops Manager, you are prompted to set a passphrase. This passphrase is used to encrypt Ops Manager data.

You may need to change this passphrase after the installation has been completed. For example, to comply with organization's security policy.

Resolution

Follow the steps below to change the Ops Manager passphrase:

  1. In Ops Manager 1.7, click "Admin" in the upper right corner and go to "Settings". You will then have the option to change the passphrase.
  2. Enter the current passphrase, the new passphrase, and also confirm the new passphrase.
  3. Finally, click the "Update" button.

Impacts or Risks

The passphrase cannot be recovered. So, it is important to keep the back up of the passphrase.
