Issue/Introduction

• Protection Reporter service not starting
• Error messages similar to:

  Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Server\Reporter\ParityReporter.exe"
  Error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bit9\Parity Server\Reporter\ParityReporter.exe.Config" on line 0. 
  Invalid Xml syntax.

Environment

• App Control Server: All Supported Versions
• Microsoft Windows Server: All Supported Versions

Cause

The config file is not properly formatted or is missing information at the line indicated by the error message.
 

Resolution

Open up a case with Technical Support with a copy of the existing ParityReporter.exe.Config file from the application server.
