Issue/Introduction

If the name for an existing Policy is changed, does that have any user impact?

Environment

  • Carbon Black Cloud Console: All Versions
  • Endpoint Standard: All Supported Versions

Resolution

No, there is no end-user impact associated with changing the name of a given Policy

Additional Information

  • The name of the Policy is not visible to end-users unless that is part of the 'Sensor UI: Detail Message' below the Target Value on the General tab for the Policy
  • If other settings are modified, there can be changes that end-users would be able to see/notice
  • Existing Sensors installed into a Policy will remain in their assigned Policy, and any new installations using the GROUP_NAME="<PolicyName>" parameter via command line interface (cli) will need to reference the updated name(s)
