RC 88(085) when starting an application

Issue/Introduction

The RC 88(085) indicates that someone has turned off access to the application database for backups or other maintenance, and did not restore access when it was completed.

Resolution

To correct this problem, you can run a DBUTLTY job (Datacom/AD INSTJCL(AD14CXXR) or Datacom/DB INSTJCL(DBUTLTYU) is good for this), with this input:

  ACCESS  DBID=430,STATUS=WRITE

For other applications or databases, replace '430' with the DBID that needs to have access restored.
