Carbon Black Cloud: Error in Live Response When Changing to Directories With Extended Characters

Issue/Introduction

Unable to change directories using CD command in Live Response when the target folder name includes extended characters, such as circumflex accent diacritical marks.

When attempting to change directories, the following error is displayed:

“Remote error 0x80070003 - The system cannot find the path specified.

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Console: February 2022
• Carbon Black Cloud Sensor: All Supported Versions

Cause

Backend Issue related to extended characters

Resolution

Issue fix included in the July 18th, 2022 backend update (1.4)

Additional Information

Examples of characters with circumflex accent diacritical marks (please note the issue is not limited to just those characters, but it can affect other extended characters as well):

é = e with acute accent
ë = e with umlaut or diaeresis
è = e with grave accent
ê = e with circumflex accent
ñ = n with tilde
