Issue/Introduction

Identify the proxy configuration on a Windows sensor

Environment

• Carbon Black Cloud Console: Current Version
  • Endpoint Standard
  • Enterprise EDR
• Carbon Black Cloud Windows Sensor: Supported Versions
• Microsoft Windows: Supported Versions

Resolution

Identify if a Windows Sensor is using a proxy within the confer.log:

1. Navigate to C:\Windows\Program Files\Confer
2. Open confer.log with a text editor
3. Using CTRL+F (i.e., Find), search for:

ProxySettingsStoreCommon::ApplyConnectionSettings

4. Results will show:
   1. Proxy not being used by the sensor: 

      using proxy: false, proxy,

   2. Proxy being used by the sensor: 

      using proxy: true, proxy <proxyname>,

Additional Information

• The proxy settings will be temporarily stored in cfg.ini and then quickly removed after installation.
• Proxy settings are stored after installation in db_cfg.
