Output Management Web Viewer

Issue/Introduction

A WebViewer for USS or z/LINUX 12.1 install ends with the error message:

The uninstallation could not complete due to an error.

And there are no other messages and no logs in the uninstaller directory or elsewhere. Or it ends in the middle with no messages at all.

This can also happen if you are applying maintenance.

Environment

Release: 12.1 Output Management Web Viewer

WBVLUW

Cause

Lack of storage to complete the installation or application of maintenance

Resolution

Here is what to do:

  • Manually remove any folders that may be left from the install.
  • Make sure you have at least 500MB to 1GB free disk space and 1 to 2 GB in main memory.
  • Add a command line argument to define an alternate tmp location for the install.

The System Property you need to set is:   lax.nl.env.iatempdir

  1. Here is an example for the install:

    java -Dlax.nl.env.iatempdir=/u/v012345/tmp -jar CAOMWV.jar

where /u/v012345/tmp is your new tmp folder with at least 150 meg of space.

  2. Here is an example for the applying maintenance:

java -Dlax.nl.env.iatempdir=/u/v012345/tmp -jar CA_OM_WEBVIEWER_12_1_Updt.jar

where /u/v012345/tmp is your new tmp folder with at least 150 meg of space.

Do this even though you believe you have enough space in your current /tmp folder.

IMPORTANT:  If this happened when applying maintenance, you do not have to remove folders
