App Control: Windows Agent Install Hangs During Driver Install

Issue/Introduction

Windows Agent Install Hangs During GUI Installation or Silent Install Log shows completed install even though the Agent isn't installed

Environment

• App Control Windows Agent: All Supported Versions

Cause

This can be caused by a Windows or GPO setting which is requiring an answer to a prompt which isn't coming up due to the silent install

Resolution

Expose the driver installation using this command "msiexec /i <path>\<policy name>.msi NOSILENTDRIVERREG=1 /l*v <path>\AgentInstall.log" as this will bring up the popup which can then be responded to

Additional Information

The dpinst.log from C:\Windows can show the status of the driver install and may be sitting at the driver install
