Carbon Black Cloud: USB device serial number is blank

Issue/Introduction

• In the Inventory > USB Devices section, the serial number for a new device appears as blank
• The button to approve the USB device is unavailable

Environment

Carbon Black Cloud sensor: 3.6.0.2076

• Endpoint Standard

Microsoft Windows 10: All versions

Cause

• A defect with the Carbon Black Cloud Sensor version 3.6.0.2076 results in an unreadable device serial number
• The device may not have a valid serial number

Resolution

Upgrade sensor to version 3.7.0.1411 or higher.
