Installation of Web Console and Web Services gives error " IIS is installed but not configured correctly"

Issue/Introduction

During setup of the CA Client Automation when it gets to the Web Console and Web services portion a popup error occurs indicating that IIS is installed but not configured correctly

 

 

 

Environment

Client Automation - All Versions 

All Windows platforms running IIS 

Cause

This issue is caused by not having the ISAPI Extensions and ISAPI Filters installed which are not installed by default installation of IIS

Resolution

Install the  ISAPI Extensions and ISAPI Filters by doing the following on Windows 2012:

1. Go to Server Manager and select Manage , Add Roles and features

 

This opens the Add Roles and Features Wizard

2. Select Role Based or Feature Based installation

3. Click Next 

4. On the select Destination Screen choose the local host 

 

5. Click Next 

 6. Expand the Web Server and expand Application Development and check the box next to ISAPI Extensions and ISAPI Filters

7. Click Next 

This brings up the Confirm installation selections click install

 

8. Install completes

 

9. Once this completes rerun setup of the CA Client Automation product and select to install the Web Console and Web Services and you should not get the error

and see successful installation/addition of web console and Web Services.
